Stingray production (storey board design)

The idea behind this production, is to develope a storey through 8 or 9 fashion images. A series which brings whole collection to life. Faustino Lopez's collection for winter 2008 is based on the stingray. All the collection is in black.

Character traits of the Stingray: sexy, slick, seductive, strong,, elegant, sharp, graceful, beautiful, deadly, bird of the ocean.

Through a series of eight photographc images, a storey of three alien stingray like women land on this planet, to collect three Argentinian men to take back to there planet for cloning.
This three women are here for a mission and that is capture three men. Armed with spear gun like weapons.

This are faustino s fashion and graphic designed images. He worked 10 years as the owner and director of his own graphic design business.

LOCATION STOREY BOARD

Tranvestite exhibition

Palermo woods is a park filled with hundreds of Buenos Aires locals running, walking, cycling, roller blading by day. One night I cycled around the lake in the centre of Palermo woods, in amazement. This road was lined with transvestites, competing to gain the attention of the men in cars passing by. On POP fm radio, a local palermo radio station anouncer stated that, "3000 men pass by everynight". Cars go round and round as if lost in a supermarket maze. In search tranvestite which simulates a fantasy, a desire in the moment. Like products in a department store, each Transvestite tries to out do the other in appearance.

I am very interested the fact that many hetersexual men don t identify them selves as gay, but have sex with tranvestites. Transvestites subconsciously try to look like the sort of women they find most attractive and therefore wish to emulate there appearance. Perhaps that is why transvestites adopt slutty looks, an echo of the paradoxical hetersexual desire to date sluts, but eventually marry a virgin.

The director of Pink Flamingos and Hairstray, commented on the subject, "I know that dragg queens and transsexuals are always chased by men who seem to identify as being straight. Most transvestites I know in America have told me that straight men want transvestites to fuck them up the ass".

Perhaps consumerism is teaching people how to daydream about commodites, about other sexual bodies, fantasis, to daydream. Through make up, fashion and of course one can change there appearance. This become a simalaca, an illusion of something else. Perhap due to this illusion hetersexual men believe they are with a women. An illusion of something they desire, dream about.

My image has placed the transexual as a art piece, an object of desire.

"Do not touch unless you can afford them, darling" production

My idea for the "Do not touch unless you can afford them, Darling" production, stemmed from my friend Faustino Lopez`s classically inspired fashion creations. I idea for the location and look of this production came from Katherine Hepburns staring roll in, "Suddenly Last Summer". Many hiden secrets immerged during the course of the film.

First concept sketch. The model stands on a sphereical mirror and another mirror stands up right, disguising her legs. The Shoes in the image below from local Buenos aires designer Lucila iotti, float in spacial voild. They appair on display, as in a department store window display. As an object of desire, revealed beneath her dress. Perhap a world within a world exists beneath for dress.

The idea for this production stemmed from John Galliano 2007 haute Couture 1950 s style department style presentation. The miror plays on the departement store presentation of Garmentent and as art, objects of desire, objects to be looked at, fantasised about.

Model selected for production: Candelari Roca

A tube coming out of the models mouth, travels along her arm to a very eligant virginia slim cigarette. The cigarette acting as her life support, to provide fuel to her body. This idea stemmed from who smoke excessively. People can not move, function with out an unlite cigarette.

The selected location. Located in the fashionable, sheak, Palermo Soho district.

Make design, research images. The overall look has been influenced by John Galliano's 2007`s haute Couture fashion show. Here women appair as fastasy, memories of the past, a desire to act perform. Other artist of interest, Bijork and her ex boyfriend, New York artist Mathew Barney.

"Stepping on dog pooh in style" production.

This production idea came from the very reality of walking down many Buenos Aires streets and stepping in dog shit. I have seen many women glamously dressed, scream "oh shit", when stepping in dog shit.

I have found three locations. Each for there quirky style, simliar to the french film, delicatessen.

Production concept sketch in the selected location. The women is dresses in style to fit her well dresses dogs. She stepped in Dog in style. One has tripped and fell in the back ground.

"Mate is life" production

Yerba Mate production.

Argentines of all ethnic groups and classes prepare and serve mate according to a ritual that goes back hundreds of years. A server (cebador) fills a gourd (mate) cup almost to the rim with chopped yerba mate leaves and then pours heated (but not boiling) water into the mate. Drinkers sip the hot liquid through a bombilla, a silver straw with a bulbous filter at the end that prevents the leaves from entering the straw. The mate cup is passed clockwise around the group of friends or family. Each participant drinks the entire cup before it is passed to the next person. Mate is very popular in Argentina, with an average of 5 kg per person per year consumed--over 4 times the amount of coffee. Below are two images. One of the mate tea and one of the a traditional holder.

Mate, like coffee and cigerettes is quite adiction. Most people drink this throughout there working day as a source of fuel to function with. My idea for this production stems from my observation a gentelman in a video. He greeted my friend and I with "hola, como estas", sip sip on his mate. Can I help you? sip sip on his mate. He seemed to be living and breathing, functioning from this mate substance. I came with the slogen, "Mate is Life". The concept sketches below illustrate my ideas. The mate packet is cut in half and attacted to mirror. In the reflection the other half appairs. The mate packet appairs as though floating in space. A tube connect to the model drinking mate from an extented mate metallic straw. He is living and breathing mate through consumption and wearing a mate jacket. Creating the appearance of a Film noir figure of tango singer preserved in time.

A blazer jacket covered in Mate, a tube connect to a tube behind his seat to a mate packet floating in space between his reflected self. A red scarf and a red hanky cheif. A metallic exterior mate holder and extented mate holder constructed from plastic and painted in silver paint.

Two location options. Both are located in San telmo`s quaint neighbourhood.

Car park production 2 - reflecting, refracting of light on a mirrored surface

I really have a fasination with the car parking lots here. The shade cloth acting as filter to project the cars from the sun light. The fabric flows free and light. flowing harmonously like music to the space.
(Wearing the space inhabited) The mirror cut in the shape of a 1960´s style, reflects, refracts light. Mirroring the striped pattern above. This mirror cuts a voild in space, leaving the models head, arms and legs floating in space. This creats an illusion, questioning what is real and virtual.
The material becomes immaterial. Mirror a material throught its reflective quality disguises ther truth. I see the material working similar to Mystique power to transform, disguise herself.

When I first arrived in Buenos Aires, I noticed the way Argentinians loved to admire there own reflection.This production relates to interplay between the glass surface and light in forming refection, The blurring devide between the real and the virtual reflected reality.

Research notes:

All surfaces in Mies Van Der Rohes, German pavilion relfect and refract one another in this virtual space. Mirror ws used to cover a solid, such as the columns supporting the roof of the structure. The mirror disguises the true material within. It appairs as a voild in space, reflecting the surrounding environment. A good example of the is used in a local restaurant. The Standard restaurant in the up market Palermo Hollywood barrio.

Dulce de Leche Production

Inspiration for the Dulce de Leche production steamed from, the Lavazza calender (2003) by photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

I really like the playfull nature of this advertising production. The cups and spoon generally used during the daily ritual of coffee drinking. Have know become accessuries in which decorate the body. Like coffee, we desire sex. These two have become blurred.

This production about desire, fantasy. When I first encountered Buenos Aires, I related the colour of the Argentinian men to the colour of Dulce de leche. The relationship to dulce de leche, is something most crave and desire on a daily basis.

PRE PRODUCTION SKETCHES

This production involved painting the body in 6 containers of dulce de leche. A zipper was first stuck to the body and then the body covered in deche de leche.

CARPARKING LOT PRODUCTION + overall inspiration for this project

Mirror has become a central theme in my work. The ever changing interplay that occurs between light and glass fasinates me. At particular times of the day architectual spaces are revealed and disguised. At one moment a glass surface may appair as a mirrored surface, reflecting the surrounding environment, whiling disguising the interior within. In another moment, the glass surface becomes translucient, disappairing in space. Offen people and birds a like are folled and painfully hit the glass surface. Buildings reflect and refract one another and thereby cut a viold in the cultural space of the city. Mirror in my work is used to disguise, producing voilds, perhaps opening into our virtual spaces. The mirror in production series Uniquely wonderful Buenos Aires, connects each image as a series. It also isolates each subject from the environment they each stand in.

This architectual construct of scaffolding, acts as a support to this ageing historic church. From the angle I have selected for this photographic production, shot from below looking upward. This construct could appair like a tectonic ladder to heaven in biblical terms.

In my image, the model appairs suspended in space. Similar to effect, when experiencing a reflective virtual archtiectual space. The model hangs, suspended in limbo, between two worlds, the virtual and the real. This has become more and more blurred and our modern architectnological environments.

In this locational image, this support could symbolise the church falling apart, in a world progressing forward into new beliefs and forms of spirituality.

Architecture, Photography and cinema exist in the dimention of time and movement. Fashion and Theatre relate to the way we move through, interact with, experience architecture. Buenos Aires city is a stageset, in which to explore these themes. Constructing various staged photographic productions. Since the completion of the first year of Interior design, glass has fasinated me. Mirror in my current project has been used as a direct relationship to Mies Van der Rohes, German Pavilion in Barcelona, (1929) His exploration of surfaces reflecting of one another, creating a virtual space, a light weight space. I am interested in way mirror oscillates between materialism and illusionism. The steel columns are covered by a mirrored surface, becoming almost invisible, a void in space. Mirror in my work acts as platform, or device to separate, isolate each subject from the environment they stand. The mirrored platform reflected the surrounding environment, disapearing in space. Glass, has become a central theme for exploration in my work. The interplay in glass and light at particular time of the day in reveals and disguises the interior and exterior space becoming a mirror in one moment and translucient in another moment. This ever changing interplay of light and reflective surface fasinates me. The buildings reflect each other and thereby cut a void in the cultural space of the city. Mirror in my work is used to disguise, distort, producing voids, perhap openings into other spaces. To conclude this Statement, this is an exploration into understanding and to articulate the surface between the experiencing self and the architectural utopia we live in. “It is us, It is you, It is them” is the 2008 theme and related to very fact that we surrounded by reflected surfaces contstantly changing through the interplay of light.
